Frequently asked safety questions

Safety is the first thing families ask about — and rightly so. Here are honest answers to the questions we hear most. For anything not covered, please ask us directly.

What do caregivers do in an emergency?

In any medical emergency, the caregiver calls 911 first, then notifies the family and the office. Companion caregivers provide non-medical support and are not a substitute for emergency medical care. See emergency response.

Is companion care a substitute for emergency medical care?

No. Companion care is non-medical. In an emergency, always call 911. A caregiver's role is to recognize when help is needed, call for it, and support your loved one and family.

Are caregivers supervised?

Oversight matters for consistent, quality care.

Are caregivers insured and bonded?

This helps protect both clients and caregivers.

What happens if my regular caregiver is unavailable?

A dependable provider has a plan so your family is never left without coverage. See our backup care process.

How is my loved one's privacy protected?

Personal information should be handled respectfully and shared only as needed to provide care. See our privacy policy.

How do I raise a concern about care?

Tell the office right away. We take feedback seriously and act on it quickly.

What safety steps happen at home?

Caregivers help keep walkways clear, watch for hazards, encourage safe routines, and flag concerns to the family. For practical tips, see our home safety and fall prevention guides.
